Hello,

I am using the Joy-Pi Note and I opened the Joy-Pi learning software already provided once to create a username and password. Everything was working. I then unplugged the computer and when I turned it on again the software wouldn't open. The task manager says the CPU usage goes up to 19% when I try to open the file but nothing happens. I tried removing the SD card and and putting it back in but that didn't work. I don't get any error message either. I don't know if it's a problem with the SD card or the file.

This is my first time using this software and using Raspberry.

I am very sorry for that. That should definetely not happen.

I would suggest reinstalling the operating system and the software.
As you are saying that this is your first time using Raspberry, I assume you are not familiar with the installation process?

1. First, with your computer, install the Raspberry Pi Imager


2. Open the Imager, insert the SD card of the Joy-Pi Note to your computer and install the latest Raspberry Pi OS (64-Bit)


3. Insert the SD card back to your Joy-Pi Note and start the software


4. Once you started back to the desktop, open a Terminal window and enter the following commands:

curl https://joy-pi.net/Joy-Pi-install.sh -o Joy-Pi-install.sh

chmod +x Joy-Pi-install.sh

./Joy-Pi-install.sh

This will install the Joy-Pi Note software.

If this process is completed, you can start the software again. Don't worry, the first startup can take a while as the software will automatically install all required libraries.

Thank you for your quick response.

I put the command into a Terminal Window and it downloaded without any issues. It then asked to restart the computer which I did and I now have the Joy-Pi shortcut on the desktop. However when I click to open it, the charging icon appears for a couple seconds and then nothing happens. 

I tried opening it with the file manager and it says : This text file 'Joy-Pi' seems to be an exectuable script. What do you want to do with it ? (with the possibility to execute, execute in terminal or open).

I tried all 3 options it gave me but nothing happenend.

I also can't download the version available on the Joy-It website as it's for Windows and I'm using Linux on the Joy-Pi Note. 

Something I don't understand is that I managed to open Joy-Pi yesterday. I saw it download all the libraries too. But it won't open today.

Update:

As I was trying to install diffrent versions of the Raspberry Pi OS on my SD card and putting it back into the Joy-Pi computer, it now opens with the welcome screen (see attached image) and then proceeds to just turn off. The welcome screen stays for a couple seconds and then the computer shuts down. 

I tried with multiple version of the OS that are compatible with the Raspberry Pi 4 model B that I'm using (Raspberry Pi with desktop 32-bit, Raspberry Pi with desktop 64-bit,...), and this problem occurs each time.

which exact version of the Raspberry Pi OS are you using? Which welcome screen do you see? Unfortunately I cannot view your attached screenshot.

Hello Jens,

I ended up fixing my problem. 

I downloaded the Raspberry Pi OS (Legacy) with desktop and recommended software 32-bit through the Raspberry Pi imager onto my SD card. When it was done installing I opened a Terminal Window and typed in the code to install Joy-Pi. It was done installing and rebooted my computer and then everything was working fine.
